ref the name Sproston,
I asked my dad about his step father whos name was Bill Sproston, who came
from Newchapel/ Harriseahead. My dad said Bill Sproston had a neice called
Fanny Sproston who kept the Harecastle hotel at Kidsgrove. Also to nephews,
Danny Sproston was one of them. They had a footrail (open cast mine)at Apedale..
I will let you have any more info when I call down my dads , my dad is 91,
there is not much he doesnt know about Packmoor and the surrounding areas,
he worked at Black Bull all his life.

Hi,
Saw your request on the Harriseshead/Newchapel web site. My maiden name was
Sproston and I lived at Sands Rd Harriseahead from1963 t0 1979. We attended
Newchapel church for many years and my Gran lived in Newchapel and Packmoor(also
a Sproston). Please let me know if I can be of any help in your research,
