I am as always interested in my family history. After a break of several years
I have found time to carry on some of my research.
I have been looking for the memorial plaque that was erected to the missing
soldiers of WW1 in Newchapel – I have seen a grainy photo of it and ‘thought’
I recognised one of my family, Abraham Steadman. Your site seems to confirm
this, his death I mean, as I have not been able to find out a great deal about
this individual. I have his parents, brothers and sisters but no more.
I also have details of most of the ‘Steadman’s who were prevalent in Newchapel
/Thursfield since about the late 1700’s when they came from Cheswardine in
Shropshire. I would love to pursue Abraham or any other Steadman links if
you know of any?
