Hi Adger, Please would you post the following on your genealogy page, family names WATTON, HANCOCK, HURD: I have come across letters and papers held by my Great Grandfather, John Hilditch COLE of Knypersley Hall, (born Turnhurst 1849), who was agent and mining engineer for Robert Heath & Sons. J H Cole was a joint trustee, along with Thomas Mansfield HURD (who lived at 12 Waterloo Rd, Burslem in 1896), who administered a trust fund left by Alfred Watton b1830 to provide for his wife, Eliza b1843, and children Emila b1861, Catharine b1962, Mary b1864, Sydney b1867, Walter b1871 and Alice b1876 (all dates from 1881 census when the family lived in Burslem). The papers also describe a mortgage to a Walter HANCOCK and his father Miles, the mortgages being on two houses and a shop in Station Rd, Bradley Green (now Biddulph). These papers may be of interest to descendants or other relatives of WATTON, HANCOCK or HURD and I would be pleased to discuss them further. Please contact me via http://billysugger.com/family/tree/ Regards, Mark Beard |
