11724 Private Arthur Rhodes was born in1893 in Odd Rode. He was
one of three children to Arthur and Emily Ann Rhodes (nee Wright),
Arthur and Emily were married in All Saints Church, Church Lawton
in 1890, their 1st child Ellen Rhodes born 1891 died 0
years, and their youngest son Wilmot born 1898 died 1913 age 15 years.
Arthur’s occupation like his father was a Labourer. In 1911 they lived
at Scholar Green, Stoke-on-Trent.
Arthur enlisted in Tunstall in 1915, there
are no service records for him, but from his Medal Index card we know
he went to France
on 25th August 1915 and was killed on the 13th
November 1916 age 23 years, he is buried in Ancre
British Cemetery,
Beaumont-Hamel, Northern France.
