1679 Trooper Edward Clarke born in 1897 in Odd Rode he was the
only child of Thomas & Emma Elizabeth Clarke (nee Wilson) of Bank, Scholar Green. He was unmarried.
Edward enlisted in Congleton after 1916, there are no surviving
Military records for him and his Medal Index Card doesn’t give a lot of
details, only that he was entitled to the Victory Medal and the British
War Medal, he was killed on the 12th October 1917 probably
at the 3rd Battle of Ypres- Passchendaele
he was 20 years of age, his body was never found, he has no known grave,
he is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. |
