20997 Lance Corporal (SPR) Ellis Barlow was born in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire.
He was the son of John & Minnie Barlow of “The Firs”, Sunnyside,
Alsager, and all native to Mow Cop.
Ellis enlisted at the beginning of the war in Stoke-On-Trent in
1914, there are no surviving Military records for him but his Medal
Index Card does tell us that we went to France
on the 18th August 1914; he was killed on the 30th
September 1915, he was awarded the 14 Star, British War Medal and
the Victory Medal. He is buried in Zouave Valley
Cemetery, Souchez.
