Private George Armitt
244708 Private George Armitt was born
on the 9th April 1890 in Moreton;
he was the son of George and Hannah Armitt of
Roe Park Lodge, Moreton. George married Elizabeth
Julie Chilton in 1914 in All Saints Church, Odd Rode,
they had two son’s George born 1915 and William born 1917.
George enlisted in Congleton after 1916, there are no service records
for him, his Medal Index Card doesn’t give any dates as to when he went
to France, he was killed on the 6th June 1918 age 28 years
his body was never found he is remembered on the Soissons
Memorial in Northern France. George’s wife Elizabeth would have received
George’s medals in the early 1920’s the last know address for her was
The Bank, Scholar Green.
