20810 Private James Arthur Mould was born on the 11th
March 1896 in Mow Cop; he was the eldest of 6 children to Edwin and Lydia
A Mould (nee Mountford).
On the 1911 census James was living with his family in High Street,
Mow Cop his occupation was a Coal Mine Pit lad driver, his father worked as
a Coal Miner Hewer (hewer
is a digger).
James enlisted in Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1915, there are no service
records for him, but we can see from his Medal Index card that he served in
France from 5th October 1915 until he was killed on 14th
September 1916; he is buried in Guards Cemetery, Lesboeufs,
Northern France. |
