25272 Pte. Leonard Davies

25272 Private Leonard Davies born in 1880 in Alsager, he was 1 of 8 children to Joseph and Elizabeth Davies and the husband to Mary Alice Davies nee Pemberton, Leonard and Mary married in All Saints Church, Odd Rode in 1905 they had six children: Phyllis Ivy born 1905 died age 13years, Blanche Mary born 1907 and Leonard Joseph born 1910, Vera born 1911 died 1911, Gilbert Norman born 1913 and Elizabeth Ann born 1915 they lived at Mount Pleasant, Mow Hollow. Leonard's occupation was a coal surface banksman.

 

Leonard enlisted in 1914 in Congleton. We don't have a lot of his military service records, but we do know he served in France arriving there on the 24.2.1915, he died of wounds on the 10th July 1916, age 36, he is buried in Abbeville Communal Cemetery.
