72669 Pte. William Henry Biddulph

G/72669 Private William Henry Biddulph born in Biddulph. We have no personnel details for William; all we know is that he lived in Mow Cop before the war.

William enlisted in Tunstall after 1916 when he first enlisted he joined the S. Staffordshire Regiment, Regimental number 49433, then transferred to the 24th London Regiment and was given a new Regimental number G/72669 (as the war went on when a man first enlisted, it was not unusual for that man to change regiments and be given a new number, men were allocated to what ever regiment needed new recruits). William’s Medal Index Card doesn’t give us much information and no Military service records survive William was killed on the 30th August 1918, his body was never found, he is remembered on Panel 3 at Vis-En-Atois Memorial, near Arras.

If anyone knows any more details for William please do get in touch.
