The Heritage trail was officially opened
at 11:00am on Saturday September 15th Over 50 turned out ready to be the first
official walkers to complete one of the two historic walks around Mow Cop.
The trails and map was the idea of the MCRA and was funded by a grant from
the Lottery Heritage Fund.
The dignitaries to attend the opening were the Congleton Borough Deputy Mayor
Coun Colin Burgess, Mayor of Newcastle-under-Lyme Coun David Clarke and Kidsgrove
Town Mayor Coun Lynn James. 2000 maps have been printed and distributed around
the area and are freely available in local shops, pubs libraries and tourist
information office. The maps have been flying out and an extra 2000 have been
ordered.
